Frances Bay Project
The Frances Bay Zone Substation upgrade was a crucial initiative to enhance the reliability of the region’s power supply and meet future electricity demands. This significant project involved revitalising existing infrastructure, increasing capacity with the addition of a new transformer, and implementing updated switchgear to enhance safety and efficiency. Additionally, state-of-the-art monitoring and control systems were integrated to streamline network management, ensuring optimal performance.
Casuarina Project
The Casuarina Zone Substation Upgrade project was a significant endeavour to enhance power supply reliability and meet the future electricity demand in the region. The project involved a range of activities, such as refurbishing existing infrastructure, adding new transformers to increase capacity, installing modern switchgear for improved safety and efficiency, and incorporating advanced monitoring and control systems to enhance network management. Additionally, the project encompassed civil works, environmental safeguards, and comprehensive testing and commissioning of the upgraded substation. Through these efforts, the project strived to ensure a more robust and efficient power supply for the area.
Trevor Horman Zone Substation Replacement
The Trevor Horman Zone Substation replacement project is a critical infrastructure upgrade. The existing substation, commissioned in 1981, is approaching the end of its lifespan with a significant risk of equipment failure, thus necessitating this project. The upgrade aims to meet the escalating power demand in the Berrimah & Wishart areas and mitigate the risk of equipment mal-operation.
The new layout comprises the construction of a 66/11kV zone substation featuring a 66kV AIS switchyard, two 66/11kV 38MVA power transformers, and an 11kV switchboard. The scope also includes the installation of associated switchgear, control, and protection equipment, with minor transmission and distribution line works to integrate existing feeders into the new switchyard. This project ensures the continuation of a safe and reliable power supply while optimising the assets’ whole-of-life cost.
